Ai: is coding dead ?
Excuse my language, but what a strange time we’re living in. People who don’t know git are getting hired as developers. People who can barely code are winning competitions. Meanwhile, genuinely talented builders are being judged alongside those who rely on AI for everything. It’s frustrating to watch, and honestly, it makes me a little sad.
I remember working in Nepal. Even though my role was focused on security and DevOps, teammates would often call me for Git issues, debugging sessions, architecture discussions, or simply to get a second opinion on a difficult problem. We would sit together, reason through the issue, argue about different approaches, and eventually figure it out.
Back then, I felt that understanding systems, knowing the tools, and being able to think through problems mattered. Today, I sometimes feel confused. Maybe AI has changed the way people work. Maybe I’m just nostalgic for a different era. Or maybe the signals we once used to recognize skill are becoming harder to see.
